Well-Being Drop-Ins in the Workplace

Well-being Sessions in the Workplace

Well-being sessions are to offer early intervention and prevention support for all staff in your workplace.

A Wellbeing Support Worker would provide a relaxed and confidential environment for staff to attend on an individual basis, where they can share any worries or concerns they may have, related to their wellbeing.

Wellbeing is not just our mental health, it consists of many areas  –

  • Physical Health
  • Mental and Emotional Health
  • Work balance
  • Family
  • Friends

Anything that impacts on your general life at work or personally.

In our experience, offering daily support with everyone’s wellbeing is early intervention/prevention, lots of workplaces are fantastic having schemes in place where staff can reach out for support i.e. counselling, doctors etc. unfortunately most of the time, we take this support up when we feel at crisis point, which can often follow with sick leave to heal and recover.

So, offering well-being support on a daily basis, makes it feel the “norm”, and asking for support doesn’t feel such a burden and prevents us feeling at crisis point.

Hypnosis for a better life

Other benefits of offering early intervention/prevention support in the workplace, by a qualified, experienced and confident well-being support worker are –

  • Employers feel their employee’s well-being is supported by a person who is experienced, confident and passionate to do so. This makes a big difference when supporting wellbeing, if this role has been given to a person as an extra responsibility, the support may not be offered in an appropriate way, for many reasons.
  • Everyone’s well-being is supported, employers and employees, in a confidential environment. Information is not shared with anyone, not even your employer. This would only happen with the person’s consent.
  • All staff feel valued and less stressed with their work and personal life’s, leaving them feeling more relaxed and able to concentrate on their job role and responsibilities.
  • Prevents sick leave – work-related stress, ill mental health conditions.
  • No extra time is taken off work to receive support with their well-being or actions to be completed, as they can take part in the drop-in.
  • Team building, staff feel they are important and they have a connection attending this support in work.
  • Staff will promote the wellbeing support they receive and this will encourage new staff to want to work in your environment.
  • Removes barriers for individuals to talk about their wellbeing and they will take this skill and comfortability with them into the community and continue to grow themselves and support others to do so.
  • Will build confidence to work with professionals to help them grow in all areas of their life.
  • Resulting in the workplace feeling calm, positive, and encouraging growth of the staff and the business.

The flexibility of these well-being sessions means they can be scheduled according to what works best for your workplace. Whether they are held daily, weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. The frequency can be adjusted to meet the unique needs of your team. The goal is to create a well-being strategy that suits both the individuals and the organisation as a whole.

“Well-being is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as “the state of being comfortable, healthy, or happy.” However, it is important to realise that well-being is a much broader concept than moment-to-moment happiness. While it does includes happiness, it also includes other things, such as how satisfied people are with their life a whole, their sense of purpose, and how in control they feel.” – (CEO, 2015 )
